The ONLY thing it did install, however, was the update to XBMC to bring it to the latest version. But it won't install add-ons, skins, weather, etc. "Everything" really does cover it with what's not installing - I'm a computer IT college graduate so trust me when I know what you mean by saying that with troubleshooting. OpenELEC is like RaspBMC except it makes RaspBMC look like a poor-man's alternative - so major kudos to the OpenELEC group. First, it loaded just fine over Raspbian and worked literally as well as it did on a dedicated OS. It was able to download all my add-ons properly and I was able to really trick it out nicely. What I did differently was, after lots of research, I edited /etc/default/xbmc to use my default user, changed it to ENABLED=1 which allows automatic startup, and I made sure my Raspberry Pi wasn't overclocked during all of this. UPDATE: Okay, so after reimaging, going back to some old projects of mine, and then reattempting to install XBMC over works and will download! Every time I attempt to download an add-on, it wait a bit, shows "Downloading 0%" and then shows a "Working." notification before silently dropping the download.ĭoes anyone know anything that might help? I'd really appreciate it. Oh and before I forget, I did try both wireless (which works fine) and ethernet (which also works fine) but neither have helped. I've tried installing normally, via ZIP, adding alternative sources and installing via zip, and nothing is working. But XBMC still doesn't want to do anything. I can access the internet and I'm also able to connect to my device via SSH, ping, do whatever. I then installed Raspbian (Raspberry Pi fork of Debian) and installed XBMC successfully, but the same two problems above persisted. I first tried installing the OpenELEC operating system directly which runs XBMC and has had a ton of good word from its users.Īfter installing, I discovered I couldn't get it to install any add-ons and I also noticed that it didn't keep the device name I gave it, so perhaps it isn't saving any settings either?
